Hi nat1985,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet pro 8610 is printing PDF files very slow, and I am happy to help you with this slow printing issue!
For further assistance, I will need to know the following information:
- If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
- If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
- If the printer is able to make copies by itself.
- If the power cable is plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
- If the printer prints slow from Notepad.
Hope to hear from you, and thank you for posting!

Hi thanks for the fast reply
1. I'm using windows 8.1 64bit
2. The printer is connectee with a wireless connection.
3. The printer makes copies fast as it should it prints out Word docs fast as it should.
4. The power cable is plugged into a power strip. i plugged it directly to a wall outlet- still printed slooooow. the older printer was plugged into a power strip as well and it worked fine.
5. The printer does print slow from note pad aswell.
What else can we do?

Hi
1. I run the HP print an d scan Doctor it said there are no problems "everything checks out okay with your product"
2.
- If the network name displayed next to SSID is the correct name of your wireless network , the printer is connected to your network. If your printer is currently experiencing a communication issue or error message while the printer remains connected to your network , click here to return to the printer support home page , and then search for the exact symptom or error message on the printer control panel. Other issues might include ‘printer offline or disconnected and cannot print,’ ‘cannot connect to Web Services,’ or ‘cannot scan.’
- the wireless connection does not go offline, the priner remains connected during the error

Hi nat1985,
Thank you for your response!
Please try the following:
- Firmware update. Getting the Latest Firmware and Printer Updates.
- Plugging in a USB cable, to see if it still prints slow.
Hope to hear from you, and have a nice day!

Hi nat1985,
Thank you for your reply!
I understand your frustration, and I will do my best to see what the issue is for you.
Do you have a 1 page PDF that you could try printing with? Then, can you compare it to a 5 page PDF?
Also how large is the file of the slow printing PDF? And how far away is the router from the printer?
Hope to hear from you, and have a nice day!
