I am trying to print envelopes from Microsoft Word 2010. I get an error message on my HP Officejet Pro 8625 that states "Paper detected does not match paper size selected". I tried to print the envelope using the Mailing Envelopes function in Word and also tried to print the envelope using the print function as explained in the operating manual for the printer. I get the same message in both cases.

Hi @richrox,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that you are getting the error, "Paper detected does not match paper size selected," when printing from Microsoft Word 2010, on your HP Officejet Pro 8625. I am happy to look into this printing issue for you!
For further assistance, I will need to know the following:
- If you are using a Windows or Mac Operating System, and the version number. To find the exact version, visit this link. Whatsmyos.
- If the printer is connected, Wireless, Ethernet, or USB.
- The size of the envelopes you are using.
In the meantime, please see this guide, A 'Paper Mismatch,' or 'Paper Size Mismatch' Error Message Displays When Printing in Microsoft Word.
Hope this guide helps, and hope to hear from you soon!

Hi TAFJ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
What size of Envelopes are you using?
In the meantime, please try the following steps:
- Press OK on the control panel to clear the error message.
- Try the print job again.
- If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
- If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.
- Click the Office button (
), and then click Print.
- Make sure that your printer is in the Name drop-down list box, and then click Properties.
- Click the Paper/Quality tab.
NOTE:
If you see an option for Custom settings, do not use for specifying Custom paper sizes. You must use the Custom settings in Microsoft Word. - Select an envelope size from the Paper Sizes drop-down list.
- In the Media drop down list, click the desired paper type.
- Select the paper source from the Paper Source drop-down list.
- Change any other settings, and then click Ok to close the Properties dialog box.
- Click the Page layout tab. In the Size drop-down list, click the appropriate envelope size.
- Make sure that the selected envelope size matches the envelope size loaded in the printer.
- In the Orientation drop-down list, click the appropriate orientation.
- Follow these steps to select the feed method:
- Click the Mailings tab, and then click Envelopes. The Envelope and Labels dialog box opens.
- Click the Envelopes tab.
- Type the delivery address in the Delivery address: text box.
- Type the return address in the Return address: text box.
- Double-click the Feed image (
) and select the appropriate feed option.
- Click Ok.
- Click the drop-down list under Media, and then click Plain paper.
- Click Ok to close the Properties dialog box.
- In the Print dialog box, click Ok to print the envelope.

My problem seems to be that I have a driver that doesn't know about envelopes. I am using Word 2008 on Mac OSX 10.6.8. Word is set for #10 envelopes. I downloaded what seemed to be the latest 8620 driver from HP. However, the Paper Type/Quality pull-down doesn't offer anything about envelopes. When I load envelopes in the printer, according to all the instructions (6 or 7 #10 envelopes, arranged per the picture), and try to print, it whirs for a while and then says it's out of paper.
Your instructions seem to assume there are envelope options in the printer dialog box. There are not. Do I have the wrong driver, and if so, how can I find the right one?

More information: I just tried to reinstall the driver (v12.32.0) and got the following message twice during the install:
The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used.
I am not trying to use USB, I am connecting via wifi, and I haven't had any trouble printing on plain paper. Is this relevant?
Edit: I rummaged on the Apple Support Forum and found instructions for fixing that error. I re-installed the driver with no error messages, but the printer still reports its "Media tray needs to be filled." There are 10 envelopes in the tray. There is a Page Setup button on the main Print dialog that offers an option for #10 Envelopes, which I selected.
Thanks...
