HP Photosmart C3180 All-in One
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Thanks for your kind reply! I will below give a thorough and exact description of my situation.

1.

I already before your reply find my way to the long checking list that you recommended to me.

And tried to carefully made the alterations and selections I felt were necessary to do.

2.

The status now. What functions and what does not:

Scanning a file from the files in the pc. Functions ok. Saves the scanned document and prints it ok.

Only printing a file from from the files in the pc. Functions ok.

Scanning a document directly from the scanner flatbed. Does not function.

Copying a document directly from the flatbed. Black cartridge. Functions ok. The print quality poor, as the ink seems to be almost zero.

Copying a document directly from the flatbed. Colour cartridge. Functions ok. The print quality ok.

3.

Control panel buttons:

After using all the functions listed above (item 2) Photosmart now when turned on – suddenly - gives a normal ok status with lights without blinking in all the buttons fields from 1-8, and also in button field 11, Photosmart Express -button, giving thus a normal start status. Astonishing, great! But how on earth? Tried several times tuning on / off. No changes in icons, all ok.

4.

However:

When pressing the button 9, Start Scan/reprints -button, the button 10, Turn on/off, begins to blink in a very fast tempo. Nothing else happens. When trying copying black or colour, nothing happens.

"Note. When the ink level for the print cartridge is low, a message appears on your computer screen. You can also check the ink levels by using the software installed with the HP All-in-One."

I, however, am not getting any message of the ink level on the black cartridge, though it has an almost zero ink level (see above, the quality of the print). How come?

Hello@R212,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.

Need assistance in fixing the multiple issues on the printer. Did I get it right?

I appreciate the description you have shared about the issue which ideally helps me to find the exact solution and share it with you.

I recommend you to try the links in the same order and check if that solves the issue.

Before you execute the steps below, perform the hard reset and check if that takes care of most of the issues link blinking lights on the printer.

Printer power reset

  • Make sure the printer is idle, not making any sounds, before continuing.
  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  • If the printer does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
