Hi ds88dc,
There are steps available to bring many HP printers back to factory defaults and clear the memory. In general, that should be a last resort. Do you have a Photosmart C4480?
Can you tell me about the problem you are having and the steps used for attempted resolution? This will help me know how to best help you.

I have an HP c4480 All-in-One printer/copier/scanner that's about 4 years old. Till now, it has been reliable.
Earlier today, it made a loud clunk as it started rolled in a standard sheet of 20-lb., 8.5" x 11", paper to print. Since then, the C4480 feeds a sheet of paper about half-way through then stops and the message screen shows "Paper Jam".
When I press "OK," the printer rolls the whole clean, blank, sheet out the front, then tries to load another, with the same result.
It's as though the paper-feed system jumped a few cogs or for some reason the sensor is confused. I've spent nearly three hours going through all the troubleshooting steps listed on the HP website and downloading the HP Print and Scan Doctor, hard restarts, etc. Nothing has solved the problem.
Does anyone have a fix for this?

Hello MikeL4,
I am sorry to hear that you are having an issue with your Photosmart C4480 giving you a Paper Jam message and pulling paper in half way. I understand you have been troubleshooting for awhile now and the issue still persists. I would like to post you a troubleshooting document below for this specific issue. I apologize if you have already tried the steps you will see in the guide.
*Tip - Ensure your printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet.
Please respond if you would like, to let me know the outcome.
Take care,
I work on behalf of HP

Thanks for the suggestion and the link to HP's online troubleshooting guide, Rainbow7000.
Unfortunately, I'd already been through all of those steps without success.
But, again, thanks for taking the time to send the suggestion.
