Thank you for offering a new idea, Rainbow7000. How do I grant you permission to send a private forum message? And how do I get the private message?

Thanks for the idea to try, Rainbow7000.

I appreciate your trying to help.

Latest fix you suggested looked promising, but in the end, the paper feed still rolls a clean sheet about half way in and then stops. The "paper jam" message comes up. When I cancel the print job, the feed system rolls the clean sheet of paper into the output tray.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Once, again, Rainbow7000, thank you for trying.

Still no success after trying the new suggestion.

Paper feed is consistent:  Always rolls through to same spot before stopping and indicating a (false) paper jam. Also, always rolls out clean sheet when I press "ok" in response to jam message.

Hi Mike,

I am sorry to hear it did not resolve the issue.

You have completed all of the troubleshooting steps and beyond for this issue. From here, I would perhaps recommend cleaning the rollers again as mentioned in the Paper Jam document (Solution Four) I posted previously and ensuring the printer is directly plugged into the wall outlet.

If the false paper jam continues, your option is to contact HP's Technical Support to see if there are any trade in options for you.

I have a HP Photosmart C4480 printer which is showing paper jam when sheet goes in half way.  I press OK button and paper comes out and another sheet goes in.  I have followed all 6 steps to clear it but no luck yet.  I would appreciate any tips on how to get printer working ASAP.

Many thanks

I also  have an HP c4485 All-in-One printer/copier/scanner that has been reliable.

Recently when printing its made a loud clunk as it started . Since then it feeds a sheet of paper about half-way through then stops and the message screen shows "Paper Jam".

When I press "OK,"  the printer rolls the whole clean, blank, sheet out the front, then tries to load another, with the same result.

Can anyone help please?
