I have an iPad and an iPhone connected through wireless, and am happy to get this sorted by taking them off. Could you share steps to do so - I'm so not a tech person so please make them really basic!!

Really appreciate your help - thanks!

Dmehta,

I recommend using the iPad for these steps due to the larger screen.  If the printer's web page does not look correct, you can try rotating the iPad.  The orientation of the iPad can affect how the printer's page is rendered.

I recommend performing these steps with the USB cable disconnected from the printer.

1.  The printer will broadcast a wireless network of its own.  This usually has HP Setup and the model of the printer listed in the network name.  This may simply say HPSETUP.  However, the printer's ad-hoc network should stand out when compared to other network names.  Connect the iPad to that network.

2.  Once connected, open the browser (Safari).

3.  On the Printer, go to Setup>Network>View Network Settings>Display Network Information.  There should be a 169.254.x.x address.

4.  Enter the 169.254.x.x address in the address bar of Safari on the iPad and press go to access the printer's status page.

5.  Once there, there will be many tabs at the top.  Select Networking.

6.  Select Wireless on the left.

7.  Select Start Wizard.  This should be a green button on the right side.  You may need to scroll the page over to see it.

The web page, when in the right spot, should look like this:

photosmart_b209_EWS_wifiwizard.jpg

8.  It will search for available networks.  Select your network from the list and select next.  The network should be highlighted, select it again if it is not.

9.  It will ask for the password.  Enter the password and select Next at the bottom.

10.  The printer should now be connected to the network.  It may take a few minutes to reflect this.  Reconnect the computer or mobile device back to your regular network and it should be good to go.

At this point, you should be able to add it as a wireless printer to the Mac OS X 10.8 system as it should be on the network.  Since the Apple driver package was installed, there shouldn't be any issue as the driver detect the printer on the network.  You may need to reset the printing system and install the Apple HP Printer Driver package again.

The installer prompted for the USB cable because it did not find the printer on the network, but it did not detect the USB connection to put the printer on the network for some reason.  This should get around that.

Note:  Don't forget to connect the iPad back to the regular network.

Hi,

I know I'm a little late to the party but I recently updated my Mac's software to 10.8 Mountain Lion and coincidentally have gotten a new wireless router right around the same time.

I have followed the steps from the beginning of the chain of messages (that is, reset the printing system, did the HP software update from the App store as well as the direct download from the link you provided).

I think my troubleshooting is going to differ from the other 2 people with this similar problem because my printer is not connected to any wireless network. My roommate replaced the old router and network that my printer used to be connected to with a new router, network SSID, and password.

So, when I went to complete this step of the troubleshooting, I don't think I can because my printer's Network Summary do not exist because no connection is found.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue or if I'm going about it incorrectly?

FINALLY!!!! I've been looking for a way to make my printer wireless again for over a year and have always given up because of I would get to dead ends. This finally worked!!! tahnk you so much!!!

I keep trying this method but when I got to settings>Network>View Network Settings>Display Netowork Info  I get the following error "No Connection Found. Touch ? For Troubleshooting Info" I don't see the printer in my computers list of available networks. Does this suggest that my Wireless radio is dead or am I doing something wrong.  BTW... Neither (pin or pushbutton) WPS setup methods work. I have restored the printer back to factory defaults as well and that has done nothing for me.  Any suggestions?
