HP photosmart all in one C4480
Microsoft Windows Vista
I have Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop, this has recently been reset to factory settings so I have lost my Printer drivers and soft ware.  I have also lost the installation disc.  I have tried to install from the HP site, but it keeps failing and says that my system is not compatible with this printer.  I have previously, for many years, had this printer installed on my laptop, I also have the printer on my other laptop which has windows 7, this downloaded and installed with no problem.  Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Janwhy,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you are having some issues with getting the printer installed on to your Vista computer.

Lets start off by running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Let me know if you see any error codes or messages.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,   :generic:

Thank you for trying to help. I done the download of drivers and software, but it won't install . It says the operating system on this computeris not supported. The installation cannot continue until this is resolved.

Current OS: Vista
Supported: windows 7 64 bit. Windows 7.
This is strange because I have had this printer installed on this computer for many years, the only difference now is I don't have the disc. Not sure what to do now or if you can offer any further advice.

Hello again Janwhy,

I do have one other suggestion that we can try.

Download and install the HP Update Software Utility.  Once the update has been installed, attempt to reinstall the HP Photosmart C4400 All-in-One Full Feature Software and Drivers.

If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

Thanks again for your time.
