OfficeJet 6500
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Have just downloaded/installed the full software package for Office Jet 6500 E710n printer but am running in to a problem with the HP Scan software.

Have installed it for one of my users and when he trys to run it, is continuosly prompted for an admin account.

User does not have admin rights on machine and it is not allowed for him to be given them

Is there a way that the HP scan software can run for a standard user??

As I understand you want to install the HP scan software.

If the user doesn't have the admin rights, it should be difficult to install the HP scan software.

But you can try this stand-alone software as an alternative.

Click here to download the software.

Hi Sandytech20,

The HP Scan software has already been installed. It was installed when I installed users printer (HP Offiject .......)

However, when the user tris to RUN the software (i.e. tries to scan) they are prompted with an admin box

hope that clears it up

Hello @andym1tch81,

Thanks for the update.

I understand the user without the admin access is having trouble while scanning. I would suggest you try and install from the "temp" folder. Log in to the user account and then follow the steps below:

  • First, uninstall the printer drivers that are installed from Control panel - Programs and features.
  • Press the “Windows logo key” + “R” to get the Run window.
  • Type “%temp%” and press ok. Delete everything from the temp folder. (These are all temporary files and do not affect the computer in anyways.)
  • Now go to http://hp.care/2f4p1Zy to download the printer drivers. Once downloaded, install the drivers.
  • The setup files will be extracted. You can cancel the installation once the extraction is completed.
  • Now again go to the temp folder. You will notice a folder which starts with “7Z…”.
  • If you open the folder, you will find the extracted files. Scroll down to the “E710nx.msi” file. Double-click on that file to run it. That should help you install the drivers.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂
