HP scanjet 200
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hello,

I used HP scanjet 200 without any problem for some days. Suddenly the output which was scanned by HP scanjet 200 is totally black or with blue and green vertical lines.

Hi @MUTHUKUMARAN100

Welcome to the HP Forums! Based on your description, it sounds like the scanner bulb is failing. Do you have the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or power bar? Even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause.   Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector

This is not limited to Laserjet printers.

You might consider a hard reset. If you have the scanner connected to a surge protector already, please leave the scanner on and unplug the power cable for a full minute then reconnect and try scanning again. If you are currently using a surge protector, please leave the scanner on when you disconnect it to move it to the wall outlet.

If the issue persists, I suggest calling phone support.

What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number

Case number and phone number appear.

Please let me know whether the issue is resolved and/or the outcome of your call with phone support.

Feel free to post again if there is anything else I can help you with.

Cheers.

Solution.

I had a similar problem with blue lines, I tried the scanner on another computer and it worked fine, so it was not the scanner, I proceeded to start section on the computer with problem with another user and it worked fine. The problem was in the user section. It is not the answer of why but while this can work for you.
