Hey there @nitebags

Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!  I understand you would like to set a default print setting on the Mac 10.7 computer. From what I can find there is no option to create a default print setting when using the HP or the apple airprint software on the Mac 10.7 operating system.

I would recommend setting up a preset in the print settings.  If you do not want to use any colour at all you can set the preset to greyscale black ink only.  Once the preset is created then you can click the preset dropdown in the print window and select your preset.  Most of the time the program that your printing from will remember the preset selected from the last job and auto select it which is something like a default print setting.

I have provided some screenshots for how to setup print presets on mac OS 10.7.

  1. Select papertype/quality.
  2. Click the little arrow on the left of color options.
  3. Choose greyscale for color.
  4. Click black ink only.
  5. Click preset dropdown.
  6. Click save current settings as preset.
  7. Name your preset (ex. Grey scale black pen only).
  8. Press OK.
