Hello, @Gary1st - Hope you are well 🙂
Thanks for your continued participation in HP support forums! I will be glad to be of your assistance!
I see that you are getting “Script error” while trying to open the HP support assistant on your PC. I would like to help 🙂
Let's start by completely reinstalling the printer drivers on your PC. Here are the steps:
- Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
- Go to Control panel – Add or remove programs – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
- Restart your computer.
- Now click on http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL54362/bi-131207-2/OJ6830_73.exe to download and install the printer drivers.
- Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
If the issue persists, then try resetting your browser. Follow the steps below and check:
To reset the Internet explorer:
- Press the “Windows key” + “R” to get the “Run” window.
- Type “inetcpl.cpl” and press ok to get the internet explorer properties.
- Go to “Advanced” tab and select “Reset” option to completely reset the internet explorer.
- Now open the internet explorer and try playing games.
Alternatively, check How to troubleshoot script errors in Internet Explorer if the issue persists.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂

Hello, @Gary1st
Appreciate your efforts 🙂
Is the printer working fine if you print from your PC? This could be an issue with the HP support assistant program on your PC. Hence, to isolate further, try printing and see if the printer is working fine.
Thanks, I'll watch for your reply!
Cheers 🙂

Hello, @Gary1st
So the printer is working fine. I suspect the issue is with the internet explorer settings. Try the steps below and check:
- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. If you can't see the Tools menu, press Alt to display the menus.
- On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Display a notification about every script error box, and then click OK.
Let me know if that helps 🙂
Cheers 🙂
