Still not working on C4780 even with the upgrade to 10.9.2. I can scan but when I save the scan all I get is a grey screen so it is back to using image capture until HP or Apple finds a solution for the C4780 scanner.

I was excited thinking it had been resolved by the new Apple update, but on my HP D110 it saves to documents as a big black field. Grrrrrrr. Will stuill have to use the workaround with image capture. Did you see that HP's site has this marked solved? When my HP dies and all the ink is gone, I'm going to another company.

I posted my issue on this forum months ago. I described the problem in detail. Like every one else on this forum I get notifications when someone posts on this topic.
I have read all the posts and all the suggestions..!
Yes it is possible to use image capture but for some reason this does drop every now and then and requires a print reset.
This solution is not practical. It is just not efficient..!
HP are not the only company to have had issues Mavericks....
My Epsom printer also had the same problem.....
The difference is that Epsom Released an update to rectify the problem within three weeks of the problem being identified.
Western Digital had a problem with raid controllers due to mavericks. They fixed the problem within a month.
Hp have not yet produced an update to allow there slightly older scanners and printers to work with Mavericks....!!!!
Actually what I should state is that they have not produced some kind of patch that allows their previously working software to work with mavericks.
After all the printers and scanners that everyone on this forum has are working units but useless operating software.
That is really the end of the matter.. I have seen and read all of your posts.......
According to HP this has been solved.....
Their answer is simple - Do not use HP software to use HP scanners/printers use apple image capture instead, you will loose some functionality but be greatfull for what you have....!!!!
I love HP products they are the best and they are so convinced of their products and companys strengths that they know you will eventually just throw away that dud old, 3 year plus, perfectly working printer and buy a new HP one.
Good Luck....
I will sit and wait until a link is advised on this forum which clearly states HP printer/scanner software update for apple osx mavericks........until then carry on ranting like you got nothing else to do, just like I just did.......
Simple.........

I recently updated my iMac to Maverick 10.9.1 - my hp photosmart C 7280 will print but no scanning or faxing capabilities.
There is apparently no software update for iMac Maverick 10.9.1 from HP. I called tech support and was informed this is correct.
I was then offered to buy an HP 7520 photosmart printer for $116 dollars with three years tech support. I am a little suspicious of tech support marketing printers. This appears to be legit as it was on an hp tech support web site. But I am still not sure if this is something else. Any comments from this forum for similar experiences.
Thank you GooberReboog

HP has really dropped the ball I read this entire topic because scanning wirelessly will really save me time. As it has taken HP so long to respond, they obviously do not stand behind their products. Neither Apple or HP should advertise that one can scan with a particular printer unless they know it wil work.
My solution: no more HP purchases.
How hard is it for these "moderators" to give a weekly update? However, it is probably not their fault. I have a close relative who works for HP. He routinely tells stories of HP managers and how they exhibit the behaviors of petty donkey rear ends.
