HP Pavilion DM4
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello. Upon boot up, I get an error message stating C:|ProgramFiles|HP\HP Officejet 6600|bin|HPStatusBL.DLL could not be found.

I am pretty sure based on my rearch there is a remnant of the ink level monitoring software left on my system after I unisntalled the software for the 6600 after upgrading to the 6830.

I found a thread addressing the issue here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printing-Issues-Troubleshooting/HPStatusBL-dll-module-could-not-be-foun...

HOWEVER, I recently upgraded to Windows 10 so the troubleshooting method described isn't working for me. When I MS Config and go to Startup it redirects me to the Task Manager and under the Start Up tab there, I do not see anything saying Monitor Ink.

Is there a workaround? Any advice would be most appreciated.

Hi @BigDaddyB,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that you are getting the error message, "HPStatusBL.dll module could not be found," with your HP Officejet 6830, on Windows 10. And, I am happy to help!

Please take a look at this post, Re: There was a problem starting C:\\Program Files\\HP\\HP Photosmart 5510 series\\bin\\HPStatusBL.d, by @frankus. As it appears to be getting good results.

Hope this resolves your issue, and have a nice day! :generic:

Thanks. I was able to locate the file using the method described in the other thread but not seeing a way to delete it.

I have located the file (Monitor Ink Alerts - 1nk) but don't see a way to delete it. When I right click the options are opn/save/copy link or inspect element. Not seeing how to delete

Hi BigDaddyB,

It is possibly a permissions issue with the Operating System that is preventing you from deleting the file. Please try using an Administrator Account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 10).

Hope this helps! :generic:

The account I am using is an Admin accout.

I would like to paste a screenprint to show you what I am seeing but don't know the best way to go about pasting it here.

Found this solution to be quick and simple:

Removing HP printers doesn't always scrub all of the ancillary utilities. HP Status BL.dll monitors ink alerts. You're getting the message because the dll, itself, has been removed but not the service that tries to load it at startup (and now it can't find the missing module).

Open msconfig:

  • click the Windows icon and type msconfig in the search box but don't hit Enter
  • it will display msconfig.exe in the search window above
  • right-click on msconfig.exe and select Run as administrator

I don't have that, so I can't tell you which tab will contain it (check Services and Startup). Look for an entry called Monitor Ink Alerts, and uncheck that. Then click OK to close msconfig. The change will take effect the next time you boot up.
