I think I started seeing this message, once I installed Windows 10. I first get a pop up box that says:
Win32NT - 6.2.9200.0
Once I click OK, then for a few seconds, another box pops up and says:
HPTLBXFX has stopped working (Windows is checking for a solution to the problem).
It dissapears quickly. I dont really notice any problems when I print, but cant seem to figure out why the message keeps popping up. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Hey @sonof3m,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you're getting an 'HPTLBFX' error on your Windows 10 computer for your printer Toolbox software. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. However, I do need to know what HP printer you're using?
Once I know what printer you're using I will be happy to guide you to a solution for this HP software conflict. I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂

HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP
I went to my task masager and saw that (HPTLBXFX) was listed on the startup tab. I clicked to "disable" it and now the pop up box doesn't appear anymore. I didn't notice any issues with printing today, but does disabling cause any other issues?

Hey @sonof3m,
Thanks for getting back to me with your product information. 🙂
The Toolbox is printer software that allows you to:
- Check the Laserjet product status
- Configure the product settings (which you can also do from the front panel of your printer)
- View troubleshooting information
- View online documentation
This software does not affect printing and scanning. Even with the HPTLBFX error you are still able to print, scan, fax, and Copy from your HP LaserJet Pro M1536dnf Multifunction Printer. If you would like to correct the Toolbox FX error to allow you to use the Toolbox software, please follow the steps below.
If using a USB Cable connection between your printer and computer, please disconnect that back now.
Step 1: Remove Driver:
1. Click on your Start button
2. Just type Programs and Features. If a search doesn't automatically start, you may need to type Programs and Features in the 'Ask me Anything' box.
3. Click Programs and Features to launch the window.
4. In Programs and Features, a list of programs installed on your computer will populate. Please scroll down the list and look for your HP Laserjet. If you see your HP Laserjet listed, click it and choose Uninstall.
5. Please follow any onscreen prompts to complete the uninstall. Once the uninstall has completed successfully please close Programs and Features.
6. Next, click on your Start menu again
7. This time type Devices
8. Click Devices and Printers to launch the window.
9. In Devices and Printers look for your HP Laserjet. If you see if please right click on it and choose 'Remove' or 'Delete'
10. Once your HP Laserjet is no longer showing in Devices and Printers please click on any device under the Printers list once just to highlight it. Click Print Server Properties at the top
11. Click on the Drivers tab
12. Look for your HP Laserjet driver. If listed, please click on it and choose Remove
13. Select Remove Driver Only
14. Select OK
15. Click Apply and OK under the Print Server Properties window.
16. Close Devices and Printers. Please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Clear Temp Files:
1. Click on your Start menu
2. Type Run. Click Run to launch the Run dialogue box.
3. Type %temp% in the Run box and click OK
4. When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard.Everything in this folder will now highlight.
5. Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
6. Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
7. Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin. Please proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Install Device:
- Please click here to download the Windows 10 drivers for your HP Laserjet
- Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen prompts to install your printer
- If using a USB Cable connection, don't plug in the cable until the installer prompts you to
Once the installation is complete please test printing and scanning to confirm that your product is functioning as it should be. Next, restart your computer to confirm that no Toolbox errors appear. You may see the Toolbox software on your computer desktop. If you see this, click on it to see if it opens.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck! 🙂

I had this error on 2 of my PC's afrer updating from Windows 7 to Windows 10. On the first PC I was able to go to the HP website and download the most current software package for my printer HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP. The HP installer started up and II first uninstalled the HP printer solfware and after restarting the PC I reinstalled the HP printer software and this error message went away.
On the second PC I was not so fortunate. When I tried to unistall the HP Software for the HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP, the HP Installer took a long time to load and it didn't offer the option to unistall the software. In fact, the HP installer boomed on a fatal error (no error message number). I searched for a solution on the HP website and I couldn't find anything that addresses this. It looked like I was going to have to wait until the HP Installer program got updated (whenever that might happen).
So, before I updated my PC to Windows 10, I had made a backup image of the Windows 7 harddrive using the "Image for DOS" program. So to "fix" this problem, I actually went ahead and restored the Windows 7 image to the PC, then went to Control Panel and uninstalled the HP Printer software (which worked perfectly on Windows 7). Then I went through the WIndows 10 upgrade process again. Once the Windows 10 OC was installed, I noticed I didn't have the HPTLBXFX error message again.
So, I'm sure this was like killing a nat with a Sledge Hammer, but it worked. Ironically, I didn't even need this HP Printer on this PC anymore, so have not even tried to install it on this Windows 10 PC. I'm just going to wait until HP has all the Windows 10 drivers and packags updated before I try this.
If I end up updating any more PC's to Windows 10, I'm first goingt o remove the Printer Drivers from the old OS before I let the system upgrade. And, of course, have a backup image of the harddrive with the old OS just in case. .
