Hello,

is the hardware scanner resolution of HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus really 4800 x 4800 dpi as it is claimed or it is made by the software? Thank you.

My new Officejet Pro is showing a max resolution of only 300 DPI.  How do I get it a driver that will scan at a higher resolution?

The HP support rep did ot answer the question..the specs are "Up to 4800"

what does that mean? what is the default? what is the real hardware resolution?

Hi Everyone,

The max scan resolution is 4800 x 4800 DPI from the software scanning application. You will need to change the scan resolution from the scan application program.

Open the Icon labeled Officjet Pro 8600 on your desktop, and then click on Scan a Document or Photo. When the Scan application window opens you can change the Resolution from the drop down menu.

I understand software image interpolation and would like to know the actual hardware resolution; the better the hardware the better the image and interpolation

HP Recommended
4800x4800 is the scan hardware optical resolution, not software interpolation. See spec: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02858465&prodSeriesId=432291...
