@dungleviet67 I am going to retry your solution. (in the back of my mind I keep thinking somehow it didn't totally install earlier). I find it interesting that the windows installed driver would work and the HP one would not. After all, doesn't Microsoft get the driver from HP to start with? Perhaps there is something in the windows install process that is being configured that is not being done in the HP install. Anyway thanks for the information and I will let you know what happens

Hi,
You sure your USB cable and printer work/conect good with other computer ? When you on/off printer but windows not found new device ? You checked in Device Manager and sure that haven't any device yellow icon? (I think able windows not found drivers of USB 2.0/3.0 on your computer, so when you conect printer with USB port, windows not found your printer).

I have done every step in that document it was one of the first things i tried. The problem with letting windows control your printer is that it automatically sets as default the printer you use most often. Since this user is currently using a network printer until I resolve her local printer issue, it sees the network printer as her default printer. If I then set the local printer to default to test it it turns off the windows control feature again.

Hi Unitedsg,
Some days ago, I had post solution to you. However, I guess you still have not that problem, because I help
missing a few steps.
This morning (27-Oct-2016), I tried again solution and successed on other computer. So, I will help you again now.
Before begin, you need search and download driver file “upd-pcl6-x64-6.0.0.18849.exe” (can search on Google), then you try:
- Turn off printer.
- Go Control Panel\Devices and Printers, select “Remove Device” all printers (HP P2055d).
- Go Control Panel\Programs and Features, uinstall/remove all programs (HP).
- Restart computer.
- Run file “upd-pcl6-x64-6.0.0.18849.exe”, select “USB mode plug and play” (in “Devices and Printers” windows with made 02 printers “HP P2055d PCL6” and “HP Universal Printing PCL6”).
- Go “Devices and Printers” again, select “Remove Device” both printers “HP P2055d PCL6” and “HP Universal Printing PCL6”.
- Restart computer again.
- Turn on printer and wait windows find and know your printer (if windows know your printer is “HP Universal Printing PCL6” is success).
I hope this helps.
Regards.

@dungleviet67 Sorry but your solution did NOT work for me. I tried it more than once. I ended up putting the printer on the network and it prints fine. I don't have the time or resources to continue to fight this thing. I used the same driver( PCL 6 64 bit for P2055dn ) that I had downloaded from HP. Driver works fine with printer in network mode. Since everything works fine iwith printer networked I am pretty sure the Microsoft update broke something with the USB drivers. Anyway as stated, I was able to come up with a workaround by just putting it on the network and until Microsoft gets their act together with windows updates this method will work for now.
