When I try to scan, it tells me I don't have a TWAIN- compliant device installed.please install one and try again.

Welcome to the HP Forums!

 

I see that you cannot scan with your HP Laserjet M1212nf MFP printer, on Windows 7. And, I am happy to help! 

 

To verify the printer's hardware is functional, are you able to make copies, using the printer's scanner glass? Copying Overview.

 

The TWAIN driver is included in the Full Feature Software and Drivers from HP. I would recommend to start off by trying our HP Print and Scan Doctor program. 

 

If that does not resolve your issue, please try the following steps in this order:
