HP Envy 7640
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

I have a computer listed on my "scan to" list on my HP Envy 7640 that is no longer in use.  How do I remove the computer/name from the list?

Using Apple / Mac OS X Yosemite

Thank you!

I can't help but wonder if the computer is still on the same network as the printer. Although you don't have the computer anymore, did you maybe give it to somebody else who uses the same network as you? I think it is bizarre that the printer is still seeing the computer. If the printer and this computer are not on the same network, maybe restoring the printer back to factory defaults would help. To give this a try, please complete the following steps;

  1. On the front panel of the printer, scroll to the second screen of the home menu by sliding your finger from the right of the screen to the left
  2. Choose Settings, or Setup
  3. navigate to and select Printer Maintenance
  4. Go to Restore
  5. Choose both Restore Settings, and Restore Factory Defaults

Once this is complete, you will need to reconfigure the printer for your wireless network. Please let me know if this does the trick. Thanks.

Hi @laurieh979

From what I gather, the printer is still seeing the computer in the scan to computer menu from the front panel, right? If this is correct, although you do not use said computer, is it still in your possession? Perhaps the printer still sees it because the software is still installed on it. if you still own this computer, I suggest uninstalling the HP software from it using the following steps;

Scrub/ Uninstall

  • Open the Applications folder > HP or Hewlett Packard folder > HP Uninstaller
  • Click continue, click on one of the printers in the list.
  • * Only do this step if you do not have any other HP Printers.  Hold down Control, Option and Command, While holding the three buttons down,
  • Click uninstall.

Please let me know if I have misunderstood the issue in any way, and/or if I nailed it on the head and the recommended solution resolves the issue. Thanks.
