I HAVE THE FULL APP ON MY COMPUTER AND WHEN I USE THAT IT STILL MAKES ME LOG INTO THE CLOUD.
I WORK FOR A DR OFFICE AND USE AN EHR. THAT EHR HAS THINGS IN THE CLOUD AND THEIR CLOUD WAS HACKED. I DO NOT WANT TO CONNECT TO THE CLOUD EVER

At the time I tried this out and it did not work for me. Even with the HP dumb app that requires cloud login the HP extended scan app did not work, it did not detect any printer. The printer was connected to wifi. But I had returned it since then and switched to another brand.
Won't be buying anymore HP printers from now on. Cloud services should be optional. Should not be forced to be used.
Beyond ridiculous.

I follow the other HP users in their disapproval of this new obligation to mandatory go through the HP cloud service while scanning (and being at home using wifi).
This is absolutely absurd and should never be allowed. We bought the machine! Using cloud services should be voluntary.
Everytime HP bothers there customers with some new kind of harrasment. Like buying ink etc.
I agree to never ever use HP machines again.

I have this same problem. The link for the updated software, provided in the HP technician's response on page 1, doesn't work. I do not want to launder my scans through the HP cloud. I have had 5 Lexmark printers over the years and never had an issue with the scanner. In addition, now the document feeder doesn't work.
Please provide a valid link for the updated software download. I purchased the HP 8028 printer as I scan more than I print. If I can't fix these problems, I will throw away this HP 8028 and purchase another Lexmark and never purchase HP printer again. Thank you.

I was frustrated with this as well. I finally deleted the HP Smart program and . . . viola' I can now print and scan directly from and to my computer using the Windows Fax and Scan program. That works for me. . . and when this printer runs out of ink I plan to walk it out to the garbage can, drop it in, and go buy a different brand.

If an HP representative reviews these posts, please note there are scores of angry customers who have posted on this website. that accessing the scan function through the HP cloud is unacceptable. We do not trust HP cloud, and in my case any company's cloud, to keep our private information private.
For 20 persons that have posted on this forum regarding their dissatisfaction with HP products, I speculate there are 200 who don't post here. You are losing customers due to your attempts to force users to your cloud. Most of the posters will never purchase HP ink either. HP made a (maybe) penny-wise but definitely pound-foolish decision.

I've installed HP scan extended and get
The HP Imaging Device was not found.
Everything worked fine with scanning over my wireless network. I DO NOT want to sign into the HP cloud. This is ridiculous for HP to require this and seriously affects my decision to purchase future HP products.
