Using HP Envy 5530/35 printer on Mac computer, using HP Scan software app. When scanning photos I want as much detail as practical. The only option I have to increase resolution is to use the "best" setting. That only scans at about 200 dpi I think. How can I scan at 300 or 600 dpi?

Mac, Mavericks, fully updated HP  software. Purchased printer less than 3 months ago.

try going to system preferences  then printers and scanners,

under the scan tab, click open scanner

with that scanning application you can select the DPI

if its not showing try clicking preview or show details
