Hi thanks for replying so soon. I have tried this and asks for my hp email. How do I find that?
I have been trying to connect to chromebook since Sunday. It's a brand new printer and chromebook. I thought it would be really easy seeing as they are both made by same company!
Any help would be gratefull, I'm losing patience.

Hi,
Sorry to hear that you're having problems setting up. I've included a link here on how to find your printer's e-mail address - this is the one that you'll need to add to your Google account. .

Hi. I'm interested in buying the same HP Deskjet 2542 (which gets excellent reviews) to print via Wifi /Google Cloud from a non-HP Chromebook. It seems like the magic words 'e-all-in-one printer' are missing from the printer product description, so I wondered if it was possible, or just more difficult to set up, being an older printer. 'How to' advice please, gratefully received.

Hi,
You are correct - according to the printer specs, the printer is AirPrint enabled (works for apple devices) but is not e-print enabled.
You will would to generate a customized @hpeprintemail address for your printer, which you can then add to your Google account: http://www.google.com/cloudprint under the "Cloud Ready printers" section. You should then be able to see your printer.
There's some additional information here and here on setting up a non e-print enabled printer with google cloud print.
