I'm having exactly the same problem today. Printed one sheet and haven't been able to print anything since.
Instructions for the 6500 series are on-line but that doesn't help at all. Would be nice if HP responded to your post.

Hey @alessg,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I see that you're getting the error 'There is a Problem with the Printhead' on the front panel of your HP Officejet 6815 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. Just so you are aware, the Printhead in this model of printer is built-in. This means that if the Printhead is being detected as defective, a whole unit replacement would be required. With that being said, there are some troubleshooting steps that we can attempt. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
Please click here to access the appropriate troubleshooting steps for this error. Once the support document opens please follow the instructions under Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3. Should the 'Problem with Printhead' error remain a whole unit replacement would be required.
If you need to contact our Technical Support queue by phone to explore replacement options, they can be reached at: [edited]. This is the North America support number. If you are located elsewhere, if you tell me where you are lo located I can get you the correct phone number.
Please respond to this post with the result of you troubleshooting. If you feel that the steps provided resolve this Printhead error please mark this post as a Solution so other users of the HP Support Forums can easily find these steps. I look forward to hearing from you! Good luck! 🙂

Hey @scaryhp,
Welcome to the thread! 🙂
I see that you are also experiencing a 'Problem with Printhead' error on your HP printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. However, I do need to clarify which Officejet 6500 series printer you have?
- 1) HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One Printer - E710 Series
- 2) HP Officejet 6500 All-in-One Printer - E709 Series
In the meantime, please follow the steps here to resolve the Printhead error. Should the error remain, a replacement Printhead may need to be purchased and installed.
Keep in mind that, as per the Rules of Participation for the Forums, it is a community Forum. Hey @scaryhp,
Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue.
My apologies for misunderstanding your original post. Because you indicate that "Instructions for the 6500 series are on-line but that doesn't help at all . . . " and posted on a thread that was created by a different user I was under the assumption that you were experiencing a similar issue with an Officejet 6500. With that being said, please click here to access the appropriate troubleshooting steps for this error.
I wish you luck going forward with this! 🙂

Hey! I found a document you may find useful: HP Officejet 6815 printhead problem
07-18-2018 11:51 AM
I have just received the same message: "There is a problem with the printhead." Actually, that's factually inaccurate. There is clearly a problem with the manufacturing.
I have to say, I am extremely disappointed with this printer. I have owned it since December 2015. Although it is nearly three years old, I have only gone through one set of print cartridges and rarely print on it. I have probably printed 200-300 total pages in that time - if that. I haven't even gone through a single ream of paper.
Why are these devices being made so poorly?
And so now the solution is to buy a new one and junk this large product just because of a poorly-made printhead?
I'm not impressed.
