Hello nvme54, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see you are looking into your legal scan options.  I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking a few HP Support documents below that will show you how to find your product number. Also, please include which operating system you are using. Also, if you're using Windows, please include whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. With this information and the product number we can provide you with accurate information.

How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

Please let me know what you find.  Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

Hello nvme54, and thanks for the response!

If you open your printer assistant, and launch the HP Scan software, there will be an option to select legal size.

I am also including this document on How to Scan: Windows 7.

Please let me know ho that goes.

i think i know what my problem is - but not sure how to fix it.

when i attempt to open HP Solution Center - i get an error box which indicates:

* HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete.

* Please plug in the USP cable or re-run the setup program from the installation CD for a network installation.

* If this does not complet the installation, or you do not have the CD, access the HP help files by clicking the start menu.

I have reloade the CD and also attached the USB calbe and re-ran setup program but I still can't access the HP Solution Cneter.  😞

I have no idea on how to access the HP Help files from the Start Menu and wouldn't know what to do if i could...

Do i call  HP Support Desk for this issue?

Thank you for you assistance - i'm really at a lost!

You mentioned calling HP, if you would like to speak with someone, you can contact HP directly.  You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide.

I found this question posted, but no answer.  I am running Windows 7, 64-bit.  Can you help me scan a legal size document without losing the bottom?
