Hey @Snoopit,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I understand that you are trying to scan from you Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-In-One Printer to your Mac OSX 10.11 machine. I can help you with that.

To scan you will first need to install the latest drivers. You can download and install the drivers by clicking on this link.

Once the drivers are installed you can open HP Scan by opening your Applications folder and opening HP Scan.

Please let me know if you are able to scan or if you have any other questions. Otherwise, have a great day!

Hello Doc Cottle,

I'm very appreciative and anxious to try this; however, I can't get either Safari or Chrome to recognize this address. I went online to HP and put in the software after the .com and it was not finding anything.  My computer may be restricitng this and I don't know how to unrestrict?

This does not happen often on my computer.

Thank You very much!

No problem, that go it downloaded, but now  it wants a password. Tried the Forum password, that didn't work. I don't remember having an installation password? There are no instructions for how to reset or register a password when it asks so how do you set up a password to install?

Thank You

The installer is likely asking for your Mac password. That password is required any time you try and install software on the Mac.
