Hi,

Thanks for bringing up this issue.

Looks like the HP Easy Scan update on April 4th has caused this issue.

Could you please verify if scan through Image Capture or Preview works.

I am not sure on your printer model number.

Could you please go to software download page or 123.hp.com and download the latest HP Easy Start for your printer.

If you already have HP Easy Start on the download folder please re run the same.

Continue until you reach the screen which gives you list of components available like Essential Software, HP Easy Scan, Product help... etc.

Verify if HP Easy Scan version 1.8.1 is available if yes select and update the Easy Scan.

Restart and try to peform scan.

If fails we would like to uninstall and reinstall the complete software.

Click on HP Easy Start menu bar on the top>>Click Uninstall HP Software.

this will remove the complete software.

Re run HP Easy Start and continue installation.

Do let us know if this helps.

Thanks

Thanks for your efforts. Wiith this on-going issue I do not have any Captrue or Preview works.  I did do as suggest - and re-downloaded the HP Easy Scan version - but the only one listed was 1.8.1.7 - which also automatically re-downloaded Essential Software. And again - I am left with a functioning printer - but the Scanner does NOT work.

I have yet to again - uninstall & reinstall the complete software. I did this once and had to get HP help as it did not work easily with Mac OS Sierra Version 10.12.4 - very complicated for this non-techno person. Consequently I am reluctant to do this exercise yet again.

Seems that the HP Laserjet Pro 200 Color MFP M276 does not like Mac OS Sierra Version 10.12.4 - as the April 4th Easy Scan Version 1.8.0 made things not so easy.   Still no scanning available. I'm hesitant now to purchase an HP product after these on-going HP to Mac issues. Any 'easy' suggestions for this non-techno type are welcome.

I was on the phone with an HP technician for more than an hour yesterday and I want to share with the HP community the problem and the fix:

PROBLEM - the HP OfficejetPro 8600 model N911a prints but won't scan to a Mac with operating system 10.12.4.  The HP tech said the printer is only supported up to the 10.11 operating sytem on the Mac.

SOLUTION - the HP tech was able to manually re-install the software and drivers for the printer on my Mac.  It had to be done manually by the tech.  No other method worked.  He also tried to re-install the HP Scan App but after three attempts, the tech could not get the app to work.  This app would have allowed me to have the option to scan-to-computer.

SCANNING - I have two options to scan:

Option 1:  Scan from my computer by clicking on the printer icon in my dock and then clickiing on the scanner icon on the pop-up.

Option 2:  Scan from my printer using the Scan-to-Email app function on the touchscreen of the printr after the tech set this up for me.  I can only scan-to-email.  I cannot scan-to-computer.  This option is no longer supported with operating system 10.12.4.

I was advised not to update the operating system on Mac any further or my printer will probably not work with the update.  I hope this helps anyone who is having issues scanning.

It's unfortuante that HP and Apple literally force consumers to purchase new computers and printers after about 3 to 5 years because of updates to the operating systems.

At least I am able to scan now.
