Is this an instant message feature? If so, can someone assist me in setting up the scan feature and wireless connection on my printer?

Hello 1tlcjqp

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums. I'm sorry but this is a peer-to-peer community of HP customers, and not a venue to contact HP directly. Most of the users here are consumers like yourself who are offering solutions because they like to help others, and any HP employees you see are here on their own capacity and not representing the company.

If you have additional or direct feedback for HP about their products or services, or questions about repair, you can use the link below for contact information.

Hi Goe,

I will do my best to help you get your scan function working. Could you please tell which Product Number you have, there are several different Officejet 4500 models.

Thank you,

I am trying to scan a document with my officejet 4500. The error messages reads: No computer connection, refer to device documentation to troubleshoot? My HP officejet 4500 guide does not state anything about scanning.

How do I set my printer up to scan documents and photos

HP Recommended

Hello velmaburgess.

I understand you would like to set up your printer so you can scan documents and photos. What type of printer do you have? Please click here to find out: Model Number.

What is your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac.

Do you have the full feature software installed on your computer?

How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB.

You can either scan a document from your printer or use the full feature software provided for this printer.

Once I verify this information I can assist you further.

Hello 1WingNut.

If you inquire assistance, please reference my previous post. (For example: List your Model Number, the exact issue you are experiencing, your operating system on your computer and how this printer is connected.)

Once I verify this information I can assist you further.
