Is there a connection between the Idle Timeout Setting and getting the "Connection reset by peer error". If I increase the Idle Timeout value am I less likely to get the "Connection reset by peer " issue. It is currently set to 30 seconds
We are printing over a WAN and regularly get this error on a hp LaserJet 4250n
Also what is the difference between Idle Timeout and I-O timeout ?

I seem to get the "Connection reset by peer" error if there is a repeated issue with the tray on large jobs(80-100 pages), e.g out of paper or wrong paper size. Is this likely to be an issue with Idle Timeout or with the I-O Timeout? What are the recommended setting for these values. At the moment I am testing on a HP LasetJet 4250n.
Any help appreciated

Interesting, I am going to do some research into this tomorrow, as this is not a feature that I work with much. I will get back in touch with you once I have more information so we can test different settings to see if we are able to resolve the issue.

Banjodog, sorry for not responding sooner, I was out of the country on a trip to visit family in France. I have sent another message and I am waiting on a response from them. I thank you for your patience in this matter.

No response from HP.
I have discovered that the reason I am getting a "Connectuion Reset by peer error" is as follows :
I open a network socket to the printer and send a file to the printer with associated PJL commands.
I wait for a PJL response indicateing end of job. But if I never get one, and the job actually finishes printing then the printer disconnects the network connection after a while and I get the error. Not sure if this is the Idle timeout or the I/O Timeout doing that. Anyway, I have amended my socket application to trap the Connection Reset by peer error and assume that the job has printed OK.
