MFP M277
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have a client who has 2 MFPs installed on their network: MFP 175 + MFP M277

On the desktop which is running Windows 7 32-bit it has the HP scan software installed for the MFP 175.

Is there software that can be used for either scanner, as in the user chooses which scanner at the time of scanning?

If not then the user wants to use the MFP 277 to scan from the desktop and I thought I would be able to install the scanning software for the model and then set up to use the MFP 277.

I went on the HP website and downloaded the software for the MFP 277 and tried to install the HP Scan for the MFP M277 but it failed to install so I unistalled the HP Scan for the MFP 175 and then tried to install HP Scan for MFP 277 but it still failed to install.

After trying to do this it completely trashed all the print drivers on the machine for all the printers on the netwrok to the point where it would show all the other printers (and there variuos differernt ones incl. Kyocera and Brother printers) as 'Printer Unavailable'. Nothing could be printed or scanned.

After sometime trying to sort it out I had to go back to a System Restore point and register the computer back on the domain.

I am reluctant to try again could anybody offer some advice?

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you try this alternative scan software:

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

It should be able to allow you to select either printer.

Let us know if that works.

I am an HP Employee. Although I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
