Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi.

Does anyone know if the 720C can be used in Windows 10 ?

I have seen one case where a user reported his Deskjet 820c worked on Windows 10 x64 shared from an XP machine.  If you have an XP or Windows 7 machine to share the printer from this may be a good workaround.

Hello Skeandubh,

Welcome to the HP Forums.

I understand that you're in need of drivers for the printer on Windows 10.

Please be advised that the drivers/software does not exist for Windows 10 at this time.  I suggest you check the HP Support site for updates.

You can also try the Deskjet 990c driver that is in the Add a Printer option on your computer and this may work for printing for the time being.

Hi.  I have the same problem but with WIN 10 Pro (64 bits).  So, i trow my printer to the trash or i hope HP solve the problem?. Thanks in advance.

The patch here may help with the Deskjet 720C in x64 Windows 10. [Edit - nope, the patch for Vista and Windows 7 does not help this issue.  See the solution below for a workaround.]

The Deskjet 720 uses a host based driver, it will not be compatible with the Deskjet 990 driver.

Hi Bob.

I used this patch on Win 7 successfully. They don't work in Win 10 unfortunately.

Hi Bob.

Thanks for the tip. I have an old XP laptop, and have managed to share my Deskjet 720C from this and print on my Win 10 PC.

Not a perfect solution, but at least it works.

Will anyone develop a workeable driver in the near future ?

Cheers,

Garry

I do not speak for HP or Microsoft but I would doubt there will be updates.  I pushed on this about five years ago when the Deskjet 720c was "only" a dozen years old and at that time I did not make progress in getting changes.

The issue for Windows 8/8.1/10 seems to be different than the original issue resolved with a patch for Windows Vista and Windows 7.
