This is so irritating the way you guys jump around the issue rather than providing a solution. Shouldnt have to go out and buy a new multi function device every time there is a new version of Windows. Scanning doesnt work at all any more on my machine. I have completely uninstalled, scrubbed the registry, restarted, and reinstalled about 8 times now. Its just not worth my time to spend hours on this, I am better off going out and buying a Cannon or something.

Hi ITTechSupport1,
Can you make a standalone copy from this printer?
HP designed a quick and easy tool that diagnoses and resolves many printing, scanning, and connectivity problems: The HP Print and Scan Doctor. HP recommends that you download and install the Print and Scan Doctor any time you need to troubleshoot a problem with your HP printer from the link below.
Let me know what errors you receive?

Hi, I'm on Win7 Pro 64bit, so this problem is affecting me, too. But this solution isn't working for me so far.
I have the driver installed.
I extracted ScanTo from the full feature .msi and installed the ScanTo.msi.
I tried hppscan0.exe, but I get the side-by-side configuration error.
I can't uninstall the m1319f from the control panel because it isn't listed there. ScanTo is, and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling that, but I still get the Side-by-side error.
The HP Print and Scan doctor couldn't even detect that my scanner was working, though it is. It just doesn't have the ability to scan to PDF anymore.
Help?

Hi jwiard,
Download HP LaserJet Hostbased Print/Scan Plug and Play Drivers, and then install the printer using this software. Once you have the printer installed correctly you will want to make sure that the firmware LaserJet Firmware is updated. After getting the printer and firmware installed you can then try using the document I provided earlier in this thread. Let me know what you find out?

Please help. Ihad used your patch instructions in April of this year and everything was fine. Then last week my HP Tech performed a system restore - possible to get rid of malware that affected my network drivers and now we are unable to get the patch again. I have been working with HP Tech support for over 5 hours each day for the last 2 days and they can't figure out how to fix the problem. Can you help?

The file that you suggest that we use in Reply 24 of 46 no longer works. when I couldn't get it to work, that is when I called the HP Support and was elevated to the Highr level tech. Unfortunately no one has been able to get it to work. Apparently the Scan to software is no longer available. Any ideas?
Thanks

I couldn't get the scanTo.msi to work until I updated the printer's firmware. After that, I am able to scan. (Thanks, guy who helped me in this thread, whose name I forget!) However, the scan component doesn't let me choose a default storage path, and keeps reverting to My Documents/ My Scans. This is really inconvenient and hinders my user's workflow.
HP can't provide a supported software solution, so my user is looking into other scanning solutions. If you don't have a high volume of docs, my research is pointing me towards either the Canon ImageFormula P-215 or the Fujitsu ScanSnap s1300 or s1300i.
Canon's P-215 only allows scanning to a local folder. No mapped drives. No UNC paths. Supposedly. I'd like to find out for myself if I can work around that.
I'd love to talk to Fujitsu, but their customer service number forces me to leave a voicemail and I haven't gotten a call back since I did that a couple times one week ago. If their customer service is really that bad, I'm going to have to go with Canon.
Hope any of this helps anyone else stumbling on this problem!

when I click on hppscanO.exe I keep getting the error message: The application has failed to start because it's side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please help!
I read through the feed and I am guessing there still isn't a fix for this?!
Should I just get my boss to get another printer?
