HP LaserJet MFP M140we Printer

Hello -

I used HP App to setup the new printer on my first computer and it seemed to work fine. I again used HP App to set it up on my laptop, but it did not succeed and now says "Printer Setup Incomplete".  I tried connecting with the first computer, but it says the same thing.  It will only print an error page stating that I need to use HP App to set it up, and directing me to the app that I used already.  I have pried uninstalling HP App and reinstalling, unplugging and restarting the printer, resetting the wireless settings, printing from a USB cable, nothing works.  Please help I need to get this printer working.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting setup incomplete error, I am glad to assist you.

Did you uninstall the HP app and driver from the root level before installing the new driver?

If not, follow these steps:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.
