I too, am experiencing the same problem. My M1536dnf will receive faxes fine but when I try to send a fax it merely tells me "Fax job added" and never sends it. Any suggestions? I have been on tech support chat with three different HP technicians, updated the firmware, initialized and rebooted innumerable times. All with the same result, "fax job added". Please help!

Good Morning,
The same problem persists. After upgrading the firmware and resetting storage after firmware upgrade, the fax machine still tells me "Fax job added" and doesn't send the fax. I have gone through all of the items on HP's troubleshooting communications document. Any other suggestions?
Hi DeMacedo,
How are you sending the faxes (Software or Printer control panel)?
Do you get the same results from the ADF and from the glass?
Follow the steps in the document below.

I am trying both ways to send a fax. One is via the ADF and the other is just from the glass. I went through the trouble shooting document and once I turned Error Correction off I tried to send another fax and it went to the "Fax job added" and then immediately to "Redial pending" status.

Hi DeMacedo,
Run a fax test on this printer, and let me know what errors you recieve?
- On the product control panel, press the Setup button (
).
- Use the Arrow buttons (
) to select Service , and then press the OK button.
- Use the Arrow buttons (
) to select Fax Service , and then press the OK button.
- Use the Arrow buttons (
) to select Run Fax Test , and then press the OK button.
The product prints a Fax Test Report. The report contains the following possible results:Pass : The report contains all the current fax settings for review.Fail : The cord is in the wrong port. On the back of the product, remove the cord from the telephone port (), and then plug into the line port (
), which is just below the telephone port.
Fail : An active phone line was not detected. The report contains suggestions for how to resolve the issue: - Use the telephone cord that came with the product.
- Verify that the fax cord is securely connected between the telephone jack and the product (or another device that is connected to the product).
- Disconnect the product from the jack in the wall, and then connect a telephone to the jack. Try to make a voice call to verify that the telephone line is working.
- Connect the product to a different phone line.
- Try a different phone cord.
- Remove any phone line splitters that are in use.
- Ensure that a filter is installed if using DSL
- Figure 7: Example of a Failed Fax Test Report
- Implement the suggestions on the Fax Test Report.
- Rerun the fax test.
- If the fax test passes, test fax functionality using the Faxme number below.Test fax functionality after trying each solutionHP has a Fax Test Service number to test HP fax products. This is available in the U.S. only. The telephone number for this service is 1-888-HPFaxme (1-888-473-2963). The fax service receives faxes and returns faxes within 5 to 7 minutes to the number contained in the fax header.
- Make sure that the fax header contains the full 10-digit telephone number of your HP fax product, including the area code.To modify the fax header, use the following steps:
- Press the Setup button (
) on the product control panel.
- Press the right arrow (
) to select Basic Fax Setup , and then press the right arrow (
) to select Fax Header , and then press OK .
- Use the virtual keyboard to type personal or company information, highlight Done , and then press OK .
- Use the number buttons on the control panel to type the phone number, including area code, for your HP fax product, and then press OK .
- Dial 1-888-HPFaxme and send a one-page black and white fax to the HP Fax Test Service.NOTE:Make sure that your telephone number is not blocked by Caller ID before trying to use the HP Fax Test Service. In most areas, pressing *82 unblocks the Caller ID feature. Voice mail, call blocking, or other call privacy services provided by the telephone company might also prevent the HP fax product from receiving a fax.
If a return fax arrives within 5 to 7 minutes, the HP fax product is sending and receiving. You are done with this document and do not need to proceed. If a return fax does not arrive, there might be a problem with the setup of the HP fax product. Continue to the next solution.

None of the trouble shooting steps resolved the problem. I contacted HP via the phone and they are sending a replacement that should be here a week from Tuesday. Thanks for your efforts but telephone support couldn't solve the issue either. They will replace the machine.

Hi DeMacedo,
Thank you for the update. I am glad to hear phone support was able to replace the unit for you. That was going to be my next step for you to try. Have a wonderful day.

Same thing as below is happening to mine: LaserJet Pro M1536dnf trouble sending fax...just says fax job added but does not send out

I have a LaserJet Pro M1536dnf that is used as a stand alone fax machine. When we try to send a fax, the document is scanned but instead of sending the fax, it says Fax Job Added. When you check the status of the fax machine it says nothing is stored and the fax is never sent.
