Getting a line on the scanned copy along the right hand side from the top to the bottom about an inch in from the side of every copy I scan using the auto feeder

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Please follow these steps to clean the ADF scan strip - the line is probably cause by some dust.
Hope that helps!
Printers with a flatbed scanner glass and lid
- Turn the printer off, then disconnect the power cord.
- Lift the scanner lid.
- Spray a soft, lint-free cloth with glass cleaner, then wipe the scanner glass, glass strip (if present), the white backing under the scanner lid, and the white strip under the lid (if present) until clean, dry, and streak-free.
CAUTION:
To protect the interior printer parts, do not spray the cleaner directly on the glass or on the underside of the lid.Figure : Clean the scanner glass and under the lid, and any glass or white strips (if present)- White scanner lid backing
- White ADF scanner lid strip (if present)
- Glass ADF scanner strip (if present)

I cleaned everything but am still getting the black thin verticle line on all my scans. On the lid portion, there is a white plastic piece that can be pushed in slightly and it springs back into place. If this is like a copier I once had, something under that plastic piece could be causing this, but I don't see any way to get under it and check? I do not get the line if I place the origional on the glass and scan from there. The auto feed scanning feature is the primary reason I purchased this printer.

Hi @Steveoboy
We've recommended what we can do to resolve the issue based on the documented steps.
An out of the box idea - if we put a double sided sticky tape on the area where the line is and attempt to scan it through the ADF, not sure if it will remove any debris stuck that is causing the issue?
DISCLAIMER : We are not responsible if this procedure fails and further aggravates the condition.
Hope that helps!
