MFP M277dw
Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Bought the MFP M277dw today. Printed this afternoon, all fine. Went out for a couple of hours, and now I get this error message if I try to print anything: 'Memory is low. Job canceled. Press [OK] to continue.

A Google search didn't turn up any solutions specific to this model.

Computer is Macbook Pro running IOS 10.10.3

Thank you.

I just purchased the MFP M277dw last week and I am constantly having the same issue when printing wirelessly from my imac. Tried power cycling the printer and turning archive print on but still having the issue when trying to print single page documents.

Hi @gscott6 and @GeoffLloyd,

I see that you are getting a "Memory is low, Job Cancelled" error. I would like to help you.

Here are a couple of different steps that should resolve this issue.

Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name. Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Laserjet M277)

If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.

Try printing again.

I have provided the steps for setting up the printer through IP Protocol if the issue persists, which has resolved other "Low Memory" errors.

Print a Configuration page to get the printer's IPv4 address.

Touch the Setup button ( ).
Swipe to scroll to and select the Reports menu.
Swipe to scroll to and select the Configuration Report .
Delete the printer from Printers and Scanners.
Click on the + button, select the IP Protocol across the top, type in the printer's IPv4 address, select Jet Direct below and then Apply. For scanning though, you will have to select the Bonjour printer. Try printing again.

If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below.

If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know. Thank You.

I'm getting the same error.

I'm printing from a USB thumb-drive plugged directly into the printer.

It's the same thumb-drive I've been using all day.  26GB out of 32GB used.

I printed about 150 pages this morning; Came back from lunch and now I can't print.

While Google-ing solutions, a document just printed.  My co-worker says he tried unsuccessfully to print that document this morning (around 10), and I was successfully printing this morning at 9 and again from 11 til noon.  Very strange.

I've already turned the printer off and on.  I tried clearing the print queue.  I've run the cleaning cycle, and now the printer is callibrating.  The same error appears.

Please help.

Hi,

I have the same problem; I solved the problem by following your second advise:

But now I have a problem setting up my scanner, I did again followed the same steps, but Bonjour printer is not listed in the drop down list.

Can you please help??

I'm having the same problem with trying to do a scan.   The solution of using an "IP driver" is at best a workaround.   If you don't have a better fix after a year, I'll return the printer and get one that works.

@therogue, welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out.

I understand that you get an error "Memory is low, Job Cancelled" from your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw.

This issue could occur if printer memory is be taken up permanently by stored fonts or macros.

Don't worry as I have a few steps that should help fix this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the below:

  • Break complex print jobs into smaller jobs that contain fewer pages.

  • If the printer is fax capable then, delete stored faxes to increase available memory.

  • Power cycle the printer to delete stored fonts or macros.

  • Changing some software and/or print driver settings might result in a less complex print job.

  • Use a different print driver. For example, a PostScript print driver will typically result in a more complex print file. If possible, try sending the file with a PCL6 or UPD printer driver.

  • Adobe PDF files can sometimes be very complex. Go to this document if printing PDF files is slow or resulting in memory out messages.

  • If the printer is connected via a network, try sending the file connected by USB cable only. This will eliminate possible network issues that are taking printer memory.

Delete fax from memory:

  1. From the Home screen, touch the Setup button.

  2. Touch the Service menu.

  3. Touch the Fax Service menu.

  4. Touch the Clear Saved Faxes button.

For issues with PDF files you may check the link: http://hp.care/2gSt2Tm

Let me know how that works.

I hope you have a good day ahead.

You're posting the same response you have in the past.   You're avoiding answering the real question.

Why is this happening?

Here's the memory configuration.

   Total Memory: 256 MBytes
   Available Memory: 106.33 MBytes

100+Mbytes seems more than sufficient for anything I'm scanning or printing.   I don't have any files greater than that.   I'm also curious as to what the other 150Mbytes is being used for.
