Envy 5440
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

I am using a new Envy 5440 with a MacBook Pro, cannot print in 8.5x11 paper.  Printer defaults to 8x10, even though te defaults are all preset to "letter" paper.

I understand you have issues printing 8.5 x 11 from your printer it defaults to 8x10.

 

Don't worry I'd love to help you out.

 

Are you able to make 8.5 x 11 copy from your printer?

 

What application are you using to print?

 

Please try the steps recommended below to reset the print system.

 

Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.
Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.
Click Reset or OK.
If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK.
The printing system resets.
Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button.
Select your printer from the list, and then click Add.
It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.

Nothing happens when I "right-click" on the printer page.

The printer is already the default printer.

US Letter is already the default paper size.

The problem does not occur until I try to print a Google doc or a Google sheet.  When I do, the paper resets from 8.5x11 to 8x10, and I have to "Print using system dialog."  From there, I can print on 8.5x11 (letter) size paper.

Did you try performing reset print system on your MAC PC?

 

Try the resetting print system and check if it helps.
