I have an All in One HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2520hc printer which is about 2 years old. Before this the printer used to be great and very economic. I have changed the cartridges perhaps more than 10 times before. However after the last cartridges (color and black) are empty, the problem starts. I replace the color cartridge first with a new cartridge. However the display still blinking empty and the software in my PC also indicated that the cartridge is empty. I tried buy a new black cartridge and replaced the old one. Still both are displaying empty cartridges at the printer's display and on my PC. Tried restarts, power off, reconnects, clean the contacts but to no avail. Can you advice on what can I do else? Thanks.

Hi @carcoon,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see that your HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2520hc printer is always showing your cartridges as empty. I am happy to help!
A couple of questions for you:
- Are you using Genuine HP ink cartridges or refills?
- Do you see any blinking lights on the printer? If so, which lights are blinking?
- If you Click or press No, OK, or Continue to dismiss the message. Does the printer continue on with the print job?
In the meantime, I would suggest to try a hard reset, by going to this post, How to perform a Hard Reset, by @Rich1. It is important that the printer's power cable is plugged directly into the wall outlet, and not a surge protector. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.

Hi RnRMusicMan,
Thanks for your reply.
Here are my answers;
- Yes, I am only using Genuine cartridges.
- Only the ink indicators are blinking. The attention (!) light is on but did not blink.
- No, the printer did not print at all.
I will try the hard reset solution.
Thanks again.

Hi carcoon,
You are welcome!
In case the hard reset, does not resolve your issue, please take a look through this guide, Blinking Lights on the HP Deskjet 2510 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 2515 All-in-One Printer Series. Scroll down until you see, Issue: One or both Ink Level icons display as empty and blink fast, the Ink Error Indicator blinks fast, and the Attention light is on. Click on the link, and then select Cause, and Solutions. Follow these steps as well.
Hope this is helpful!
