Hi @phskier,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support Forums for a solution to your scanning issue.

I understand that you are using an HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer with a Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard computer and you are unable to scan because the MacBook says the software is not installed. I would like to help.

I would start by resetting the Mac's printing system.

1. Go to Apple Menu>System Preferences>Print and Fax.

2. Right-click the printer in the printer list, and select Reset Printing System from the pop-up menu.

3. Click OK to confirm the reset.

4. You will be asked to enter your administrator password to complete the reset.

After resetting the printing system, the printer will need to be added back to the Printers and Scanners window. You will want to make sure that you are selecting the "HP OfficeJet 6600 series" driver instead of the "AirPrint" driver in the "Use" drop down menu on the "Add" printer window. Here is a document that can help with that if needed - Add or remove a printer.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
