HP Envy 4512
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have gotten it to work a few times and then if just suddently can't connect. If I open the scan utility on the computer then I can get it to work but I can't get it to save the document I have scanned. It is connected with a USB cable.

Hi @jlmom

Thank you for joining the HP Forums!

I understand that you cannot scan with your HP Envy 4512 printer. I am happy to help!

To confirm the printer's hardware is functional, are you able to make a copy with the printer's scanner glass? Copying Documents or Photos

If you can make copies, try the steps in this guide, USB Scanner Connection Error (Windows)

Yes. Copying and printing work. I now have scanning to work. It just started to randomly work. I'm still not sure why it wasn't working before.
