Bought the printer in June of 2012 for $149.99 plus tax at Best Buy.  It takes five ink cartridges, average price for the XL size is $25.00 (totalling $125.00 for the complete set).  Printerhead assembly lasted 4 months past warranty (it is only 16 months old and is a basically a small piece of plastic), then costs $73.30 to replace (by the way, model number is CN642A - not CN643A for this particular printer).  Phone tech support wanted between $25 and $35 to 'assist' with the problem.  This was all discovered after I replaced two ink cartridges ($50) believing that was the origional problem, and drained half of the ink in the remaining cartridges trying to fix the issue, per instructions.  Was offered a discounted price for the HP Photosmart 7520 totally $185.99 'if' I traded in the old printer (HP Photosmart 7510) with the new purchase, and was encouraged to get the extended warranty with my 'next' purchase.

The truly sad thing is, my Toshiba laptop is nearing 5 years old and I am planning to purchase a desktop within the next two months - was eying the HP ENVY Phoenix due to its high recommendation from PCMag.com, despite the warnings I received from other who have HP products.

Problems happen, machines break down; however, customer service should ALWAYS be a top priority if a company plans on their continued success.  (I remember the fall of Dell's customer service rating)

I will purchase the new printerhead, because I now feel that I have been backed into a corner and it is the only rational option , other than purchasing a different brand of printer (which I assume will happen within the next year).  Please note, I will not purchase another HP product, as things currently stand.  Furthermore, I advise others to take the same course of action.

To Rainbow7000, thank you for your help, and I hope you pass this on to your superiors.
