If it has been awhile since you had setup your wireless network and you purchased a new printer, you may not remember what that password is.  For security, some may not have it written down.

The Print and Scan Doctor can retrieve the password as long as it is used on a computer on the wireless network.

The document has the steps and a how to video for this specific function of the tool.

You will essentially find that the following steps is what needs to happen to get the password:

1.  Download the tool from the link above.

2.  When you run the tool, you will get this screen:

3.  Click on Help> Show Advance Info as seen here:

PrintandScanDr2.jpg

 4.  Click Show Wireless Info at the bottom:

5.  The wireless network information, including the password (passphrase, network key) will be at the top:

This is just one small feature of the tool.

I am trying to reset up my wireless printer and I don't know what my passphrase is. I thought I did, but that isn't working.

Bubblejoy10043,

I would like to help you find your pass phrase. Follow the instructions in this document on Finding the WEP or WPA or Password for My Network.

If you cannot find by this method then you will have to contact your network provider to get it.

Let me know if this worked or if you need any further assistance.

I worked on behalf of HP.

Ihave downloaded HP Print and Scasn Doctor and followed the steps as recomended, however when I click on 'Show Wireless Info' it does not work. in fact it looks almost greyed out and non functional.  Can anybody advise me on this.

I have disabled Windows Firewall but my  Norton firewall is still enabled.  Using HP photosmart 7520 on Windows 7

OK - Solved it, but if it is of use to any body else. Go to the printer screen (on a HP Photosmart 7520) and press the radio button (looks like an antenna); select 'settings' then select 'Display Network Configuration'; now select 'Print Network Configuration Page' and this will print all the information, (including the password) you need.

the password (or passcode) appears under the 'Wireless Direct' heading when it has printed.

Hope this helps.

Your password is in your router.  It is asking for your SSID password to connect to you network.  Only you have that information in your router.

I printed the network configuration page and see a passcode, but it didn't work for the password.
