Hi MichelleCoda,
Where did you purchase the cartridge from?
Have you be able to replace the cartridge in question with a new one and get the printer working?
The ink cartridges have their own warranty seperate from the normal printer warranty. If the cartridge is a new OEM cartridge, and you have replaced it with a different one to verify it is the cartridge causing the problem you will need to contact support at 800-474-6836. If the support agent refuses to assist you again I ask that you request to speak to their manager or supervisor. If you are still unable to get assistance please let me know, and I will get this issue escalated to the proper departments to help you get this issue resolved. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

I puchasd them all from Wal-Mart, in a large multi pack. I can hear the ink sloshing around in the cartridge. This is different than any other cartridge i checked. Which again makes me belive that it is the cartridge and not the printer.

Hi MichelleCoda,
Ok, what I need you to do is install a new cartridge into the printer to see if you experience the same issue. If you install a new yellow cartridge, and do not have the same issue please follow my steps in my last post to get the cartridge replaced. Let me know what you find out?

"empty ink cartridge " message with brand new ink cartridge just purchased. EVEN AFTER disconnecting USB to printer, cold booting printer for 60 seconds, restarting computer and reconnecting USB to printer... Per HP instructions for error work around.

I have been dealing with the cartridge empty situation since I purchased this printer. I only use HP brand and purchase them from various sources. Usually after installing a new color cartridge I get this message then it clears itself, this time that's not happening and since I custom make cards this is a real issue. Yes I should have taken the printer back but I was in the middle of a project and didn't want to make the effort. I usually have great success with HP but I am extremely frustrated with this situation now.
This is obviously a problem with others as there are numerous postings about the same situation.
