Thank you all

step 1.  I did take out the cartridge holder, cleaned it just as recommended here. Colors came out great, but black STILL did not print. This is after replacing all the cartridges, so out of ink wasn't the problem with my printer...but fyi, the cleaning process isn't that bad. Super easy.

step 2.  I did the Partial Reset and then I got the Failure to fax, copy or print error and recommended I shut off then on.  I did that.  Then all the lights on the printer were rapidly blinking and the message 'please turn printer Off and then On'. Did that, same outcome. Did it again, same...with all the lights blinking to a 4/4 timing.  This happened 4 times.  I unplugged the printer, an hour later tried again, same.  So now my printer is a total blowout.

step 3.  Buy new printer

ya'll are awesome!  have a great new year 🙂  peace out

Thanks. You kept me from throwing this thing in the garbage and buying a new one!

I did this and now the printer won't work at all.  It is flashing and says to trun off then on, which I have done numerous times.  I tried reinstalling the drivers and that didn't help at all.  My problem just got much, much worse.  What do I do now?

Hi Cricket808285,

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

I understand that your printer is not working. I would like to help you with your issue.

You added your post to an existing post for an Officejet 6500A Plus printer. Is that the printer you have as well or is it a different model. If you are not sure which model you have here is a support document that can help - How Do I Find My Model or Printer Number?

What is the exact error message you are seeing when it says to turn the printer off and back on?

I will watch for your reply so i can look into this further for you. Please reply at your convenience.

Thanks.

That is the exact model number.  Everything is flashing and it says, "Please turn printer off and thren on".   I have done this several times and even disconnected it but it still says the same thing.

Thanks!!

ve gone through the steps and even moved the printer to another room and plugged it directly into the wall outlet that I know works and nothing changes.  Still flashed and won't turn off.  What next?

Thanks!

Hi Cricket808285,

Thanks for getting back to me with the result of your efforts.

It might be worth making sure the printer's firmware is up to date. If you have the printer set up on a wireless network you can check for the update right from the printer's control panel.

Follow these steps to install the firmware update through the product control panel:

1. On the product control panel, touch the Right Arrow to display the second navigation screen.

2. Touch Setup, and then touch the Down Arrow to display the Web Services Setup Menu.

3. Touch Web Services Setup.

4. Touch the Down Arrow to select Product Updates.

5. Touch Check for Product Updates.

Let me know if you are connecting to the printer with a USB cable so I can provide the download location for the firmware update file. It would also help to know if you are using an Apple or Windows computer and the operating system it is running.

If you do the update wirelessly and nothing changes, or if there was no update let me know. There may be one last thing to try.

Please reply at your convenience.

Thanks!

Everything on the printer is flashing and everything is unresponsive.

Hi Cricket808285,

Thanks again for getting back to me. There is not much else that can be done if the printer is unresponsive other that unplugging it and then plugging it back in. The printer may likely need to be replaced.

I suggest contacting HP Tech Support they may have a warranty option or a way to save a couple dollars through the upgrade program.

What you can do, is use the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:

Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number

Case number and phone number appear.

Please click the "Accept as Solution", and the "thumbs up" buttons up on my initial reply above so others with similar issues can find the solution easier.

Thanks!
