scanning legal using glass or feeder cuts off the page as though it was letter size. How do I properly scan legal?

Hi jbgriff,
1. Check in the Settings > Preferences > Country and set it up to US - United States
2. After that, click on Copy and select Settings > Paper Size and check if Legal size appears.
Hope these steps helps you,

I was able to change the paper size in the copy settings to legal. This does not seem to solve the scan problem. It is still cutting off the scanned item at letter size. I have also tried using the resize setting, but it had no impact. I don't find where there are any scan settings. My previous HP (7420) automatically reduced legal to letter when scanned.

This is "select paper." But we don't use legal size paper: we use letter size. We have to scan a legal size document and expect the software to reduce the legal size image to the letter size. It won't? What? Why not? All our HPs did so before. Should we just ask for our money back, and buy a different manufacturer's product? This is horrible, for us, and for HP. It's as if their enemies work there now.

Hey Ssue63,
I see you are trying to scan a legal sized document with your Officejet Pro 8600. How are you starting the scan? (from the front panel or printer software)
Are you using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for the scans?
What is the Operating System of the computer you are using to perform the scans?
I want to make sure I understand the full situation so that I can provide the best support.

Thank you for your reply. I finally figured it out. I was trying to scan legal from the machine but realized I need to initiate the scan from my computer then the option for legal comes up.
Thank you, again!

I have read the posts about having trouble scanning legal sized documents and my menus on my printer to not match the answers given, and I'm not certain on how to initiate scanning from my computer. I would appreciate some help please. Thank you.
