my hp officejet 4500 G510n will not print any black ink. I have run the test page and diagnostics and no black shows. The ink cartridge is full. I have utilized the setting to clean the cartridges as well as followed the hp site steps to manually clean them. It also will not print black when i copy a paper.

I appreciate the steps you have performed on the printer in an effort to fix the issue.

This appears to be a print head issue and it needs to be replaced.

You should have the HP Solution Center program loaded on your computer. Use that program to check the ink level of the cartridges. It may say your black cartridge has ink, but it still won't print black. I have had a problem with  my  HP 4500 ever since purchase. If the printer is not used for even a week or two, the black printing may not work. I was able to pull one black ink cartridge from the printer, smack it agains the palm of my hand, and it started working. The next time I tried this is did not work. The only resolution was to install a new black ink cartridge. It's a flaw, but what should we expect from a $100 unite which prints, scans, and faxes. The problem is the expense of the the ink cartridges. I always keep a apare, new, unopened black ink cartridge available. This problem with the printer is most frustrating. ... As for cleaning or needing a new print head, simply install a new cartridge and give it a shot.
