Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have tried to install updated software for said printer but it still refuses to connect to my pc through either of the two mediums provided. Bit unstuck due to this as it is my work computer. Admittedly should have waited a while to install windows 10 but I got a bit caught up in the moment and didn't consider that issues such as this may arise. I also have a HP designjet T120 connected to this PC and that still works wirelessly no problem at all!

HELP

HP Recommended

Hi @Craigsmith92,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that you are unable to connect your HP Officejet 4630 to your Windows 10 PC, using a Wireless or USB connection. I am happy to help you with this connection issue.

To verify the printer's hardware is functioning, are you able to make copies with the printer? Copy Text or Mixed Documents.

Do you see any error messages on the printer's display screen?

In the meantime, please take a look through the following guides:

Hope these guides helps, and hope to hear from you soon! :generic:

I have the same problem. I cannot maintain a connection between my HP Desktop PC and my HP Officejet 4630 since upgraing to Windows 10. Was somehow able to install the new driver, but I could only print for one day - then unable to connect. Same pattern several times. Now I can neither delete or install printer drivers or software - not from settings, device manager, or devices and printers. Device manager says the fax is working properly, but the printer is not connected. (They are the same device!)

Hi bobrieder,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Please start by trying our HP Print and Scan Doctor program, and letting me know the results!

Thank you for posting, and have a nice day! :generic:

Thanks for helping, but none of these approaches work:

1. My Officejet 4630 printer is hidden in the device manager, but the fax shows as connected.

2. Same in the Control Panel "Devices and Printers"

3. "Devices and Printers" will not run from the link in the Windows Search window; I have to launch Control Panel, and then click on "Devices and Printers."

4. I cannot add the printer - the wizard cannot find it (It is turned on and connected via USB)

5. HP Support Assistant on my PC identifies finds the printer and identifies the drivers that need to be installed. But the installation fails. Repeatedly.

6. HP Print and Scan Doctor freezes.

7. I cannot remove the printer or fax using Windows 10 "Settings

8. I cannot remove the printer using "Devices and Printers" in the Control Panel.

9. I cannot uninstall the printer in Device Manager.

10. The printer is listed as being compatible with Windows 10 and HP published new drivers last month.

I have tried all the obvious things, repeatedly over the course of several weeks. I was able to get something to work for a day or so before the printer would stop responding. Now nothing will work.

Do I need to reset my machine or go back to Windows 8?

And one more thing -

The device verification process in the HP Solutions Finder froze at 98% complete.

So I am no closer to solving my printer issue with Windows 10, but I have been promoted to "Honor Student" and earned the "Responsive" badge, just for trying to get help. I would much rather have some substantive support than worthless kudos!

Hi bobrieder,

Thank you for your replies!

Please try the following steps in this order:

If these steps do not work, consider backing up your files, and reverting back to Windows 8.

Hope this information is helpful! :generic:
