@Ocsar

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP OfficeJet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer and it says photo tray is blocked. I appreciate the steps you have performed and have certainly done a good job.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Does the print pick paper from the other trays and print?
  • Have you tried to print from other applications?
  • Was it printing fine earlier from the photo tray?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

Please place the photo paper in the photo tray and remove other paper out. Not try to make a copy and check if the printer picks up the paper from the photo tray. If it does then the print mechanism is fine. If the issue persists then please perform a reset on the printer. I have sent you a private message with the steps to reset the printer.

Let me know how it goes. Cheers!

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • Does the printer pick the paper from the tray?
  • Are you getting any error message when you try to print?
  • When did this issues start?

Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.

Cheers.

@Ocsar,

Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue still persists after following the steps provided in the previous interaction.

Let me jump in with a solution for this issue in place of my colleague as he is out of the office today.

This issue could occur if the tray is not installed correctly.

Please follow the links below:

1. 'Photo Tray Problem' Error Displays

2. An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the Printer Does Not Pick Up Paper

Let me know if this works.

You have a good day ahead.
