My new officejet 6700 will not enable web services.  I have a good internet connection through a DSL modem/router.  I have tried a wired connection and wireless connection.  Nothing works.  I can see the printer and the status of ink etc. at its ip address from a computer on the LAN.

sko1947,

I would suggest setting a static ip address and dns servers for this printer as it has resolved issues like these in the past.

Before we start, we need a network configuration page with your current connection settings. To get this, press the right arrow and go to setup. From there we want to select "Network" and then "Print Network Configuration".

After you have that, we will need to access the printers Embedded Web Server (EWS). You can do so by entering the printers IP address (from the network configuration page) into your browsers address bar and pressing enter.

Once there, press the "Network" tab at the top of the page. From there you will want to click the "IPv4" button, located on the lef-hand side of the page. It will be there for WIreless and Wired, so make sure to click the one for you however you are connected. If you do not see "IPv4", you should see "Networking", press that and then press "Network Address(IP)".

Next, you will want to click the small round button next to "Manual IP Address" and then fill in the boxes for IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway, using the information found on the network configuration page.

For the Primary or Preffered DNS Server, you will want to enter 8.8.8.8. For the Secondary or Alternate DNS Server, you will want to enter 8.8.4.4.

Click apply and when the message pops up saying that the changes have been applied, press "OK".

Press the power button on your printer, wait for it to fully power off and then press it again to power it back on.

After doing this, go ahead and try to enable Web Services again. It should work now, but if it does not, let me know and I we can try something else.

Thank you!

Manually entering the IP address and DNS server info worked!  I now have an email address for the printer.

So glad I saw this one in my search through the forums!! Took me about 4 minutes to fix what had been an all-day search!

Hello,

I just purchased a Officejet 6700.  I am having an issue using the apps.  In the apps menu I can view all the apps icons however when I want to access content or use the apps I get the following message.  "The printer was unable to connect to the server.  Check your internet connections and try again"  I have no other issues with connection.

I have set up a static IP with DNS of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but problem still persists.  I also tried DNS with router IP in first and blank in second but still not success.  The router I use is dlink DIR 615.  Any other suggestions?

Thank you

I got a few question to see what's going on. Did you reboot your printer after setting a static ip? Does ePrint work? What's the firmware version on your router?

Hello. I had my HP Officejet 6700 printer all set up and with eprint enabled. I even was able to print from my phone! But all of a sudden it's offline and wouldn't work. I try to access web services but it keeps saying it can't connect, and enter a proxy if needed. Please help. This is extremely frustrating and time consuming. I've wasted precious time trying to figure this out! I tried entering the DNS servers manually, rebooting the printer and router, and reset the network settings to default as well. Nothing seems to work.

Hello,

I recently purchased a new HP Officejet 6700 Premium. I tried to active ePrinting. This resulted in some problems.

After taking a look at this forum I tried to set a static IP with DNS of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 but the problem still persists. I got the message invalid input. Does anybody have a solution for this problem?

Kind regards,

Henriëtte
