After one year of EXTEMELY light use got the print head error.
It must be a known HW issue?
I know, I know. "call support as this is blah, blah, blah..." ; )
You already know the answer: you will need to contact HP as described in Ciara's post above to resolve printhead issues with your Officejet 6835. They should resolve the issue.

This is the second Officejet Pro 6835 that gave me the printhead error message. The first one was replaced with a refurbished unit that lasted about six months before it gave the same message. This happened one month after its warranty expired. Given the number of people having the same problem it is clear this printer is a POS. I am going to toss it and buy another brand. I am very dissapointed with HP for not fixing this problem. I am never going to buy another HP product as a result.

You would need to contact HP as described in Ciara's post above to resolve printhead issues with your Officejet 6835. I would suggest you do this regardless of the warranty status.

I have a officejet all in one 6830. I had a printhead problem only months after buying it. They sent me a refurbished rinter which I rarely use and after not using it again for over a month I get a half print done and printhead error on this one. The warranty expired 2 months ago but if you look at my print history you can tell both have hardly been used. So you sold me a faulty printer, then replaced it with a faulty printer. I won't buy from H.PH. again. I learned my lesson.

I went to the HP support site and was advised to complete a form including my model and serial number, after which I was advised that HP would send me a reburbished printer in 3-5 business days. Apparently there is an issue with the 6835 that they are aware of.

Exact same issue, warranty expired a month ago and have a printer head error. Done deal, printer is trashed! Called as you have told everyone else. And "Roger " with customer service said he needed to transfer me to another department to try and fix issues on my computer, (which would not fix my printer), and told him that I would do that on my own later. And before I had a chance to get the number from him to call later...my daughters bday party was about to start, the man said that I was waisting both my time and HIS, and asked why I bothered calling. Then said if I really thought I was smarter than him then take care of it myself and hung up on me! REALLY! Great customer service! Gah.
What country are you in? The site here links to a form to fill out, after the check they send a printer out in 3-5 days, at least for the US and Canada. I would not expect the printer being a month out of warranty to be an issue.
Where did you find the number you called? There are a number of non-HP support numbers that show up if you do a search for HP Support. It sounds like you ended up with a fake (non-HP) support, I would doubt you were talking with HP Support.
I would suggest you try again going through the web site. If for some reason this does not work post back here and I will see what I can do.
