Ok, that is soooo not the right number. I just called back and now they say they are Epson. Then called right back and now HP again. Yes , please give me a contact number if anyone has one!!

If you are in the US (I am only guessing, based on the number you were calling) fill out the form at the website here.

The printhead error is fatal and HP will do nothing to help you out unless your printer is under warranty.  Then they may send you a refurbished printer.  However, the refurbished printer will die with the same problem in a few months and HP will leave you out to dry.  They haven't responded to my inputs on the matter.  Best to buy another printer and trash the existing one.

That is not my understanding.  I would suggest filling out the form as described in previous threads above.

I filled out the form and just received confirmation that a new one is being shipped. Even if it only lasts another year, at least it's another year I don't have to buy one. But definitely not going with this printer again if anymore problems which sucks because I love it!

I entered the serial number and Printer ID as you suggested and was taken to the HP Customer Support Page which I have gone through numerous times without any response.  I suspect the form recognized this is the second printer with the same printhead problem and dumped me back into an endless loop hoping I would become frustrated and give up.

This problem is not worth worrying about anymore and I GIVE UP!  I bought a new printer as a fix and will dump the old one into the salvage bin.  I think this is as BLACK EYE for HP.  Hope other readers steer clear of this printer.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums,

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.

They will contact you shortly and likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.

Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.

Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (such as serial numbers and case details).

I hope you have a good day,

Regards,

I just call HP at 800 474 6836 and they are shipping me a refurbished Officejet 6830 to replace my printhead failed Officejet 6835 for free.  I keep the cords and the ink from the failed printer.

All I have to do is ship the broken Officejet 6835 back to HP using the box that contained the refurbished 6830, postage paid by HP.  What a wonderful surprise!

I contacted hp about this error message and they sent me a refurbished printer. It worked for a while then it started giving the printhead error. Once again contacted HP. They sent me what appears to be a new printer and it is up and running.

Hats off to Hp for taking care of this customer. Thank you.

Finally got response from HP customer support.  They offered credit for a new printer and were very nice about my issue.  However, you need to be patient and persistant to get results.
