Hi All,

I'm printing from a MacBook Pro using OSX Lion. It says that Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is connected and that the print jop is

100% complete except that nothing comes out of the printer. I've done all of the test prints and they've printed just fine.

I tired all of the troubleshooting steps listed on the support guide and still nothing. HELP!

Not a reply but another plea for help.

There seem to be so many people with wireless problems that a) it seems silly to start a new thread and b) which one to enter my own plea.

-Printer bought about 2~3 weeks into Sept 2012

-Installed onto Macbook Pro running Lion (full updated at that time)

-Both wireless scanning from printer to computer and initiated from computer worked fine.

-Printer, with full choice of duplex, layout etc, worked fine. (Even left 5star feedback somewhere!)

-Set up eprint. That OK, too. Fine from iPad2 and SE Arc S printing photos.

-Somewhere along the line it stopped communicating with my MBP

-Out of interest, since there seemed to be no problems with an Acer laptop running Vista, I booted the MBP from an external drive on which I'd done a backup of my 10.6 system iMac (>300Km away: can't try that). Installed HP software from disc. Seemed fully functional. Odd. Very odd.

-Restarting with Lion on MBP, tried again. Looks as if it might work, but loses connectivity. Tried manual address on printer.

-Booting from 10.6 system again, reinstalled Lion on MBP (wondering if conflict between HP and Apple updates)

-Reinstalled HP software from disc.

Still didn't work.

-Brought Lion up to date. Downloaded most recent dmg file from HP. Looked for updates. Have applied firmware update to printer

8600 doesn't list my MBP as available computer to scan to

[But all the test pages done whilst in HP Utility, and others, get sent through]

Am getting rather fed-up with all this; never, ever before have I had so much printer problem.

There seem to be a number of Lion users out there with the same problem. So far -but very infrequently tried- other machines/systems seem OK, therefore I am coming to the conclusion that it is an Apple<> HP conflict. If not sorted soon the printer will be returned as it is not fit for purpose. I'll revert to using my seldom problematic, non duplex A3 Brother.

Hrumph

Please help, someone! Either with a pointer to something I've not yet tried or by analysis and rapid availablity of updated software.

Thanks,

Mike W

Me again with addition.
Cloned my old G4 iBook onto an external USB drive using CCC (was told that I wouldn't be able to use the disc as a start-up [on the iBook])
Powered down, plugged USB drive into MBP. Powered up MBP, chose external drive [Leopard 10.5.8] and re-booted.
Not only was the Officejet Pro 8600 already in the printer choice but sent pages were rapidly printed.
Mmm. I was beginning to think that it might be a hardware problem with the MBP. Now I'm thinking lack of understanding between the OJ Pro and both Lion and Mountain Lion software (driver)
'tis odd to read of the similar communication problems but with scanning. My printer scans well into M Lion on the MBP.
Is the solution to have a large disk and partion it so as to have both Leopard and Lion available?..
[anyone, please, got a solution that they could please send directly to Wallpaper.ink@gmail.com ?
Thanks

HI - interesting enough. Had the very same problem - have REPLACED THE ROUTER that connects all my machines via wireless with a new one. Now - like magic, all these problems are gone. Have not reconfigured or re-installed anything else on the SW side.

HP Recommended

In reply to change of router seemingly curing the problem.

Could be, but then, surely it would not have been problematic when directly connected (as in previous post)

Re my own setup, I do not now have problems printing wirelessly (I did try changing the router, before, with the printer in close proximity. No change: still problematic.

The 'cure' - for that is what it seems but I still cannot understand why after all the other complete uninstalls and reinstalls- seems to have been after I saw how to reset the printers on a forum with similar problems but for an 8500.

As for scanning, it's 'if-ey'. I can, without problem, initiate a scan from the computer, although I do seem to have to reconnect too frequently (manual address); scanning from the printer to the computer is not at all reliable and I have not, as yet, found out what I need to do in order to guarentee a scan.

Setting dpi, duplex, type of scan (pdf, jpg...) is still not as easy to setup as on my less sophisticated Brother.

But, at least it's working for me...

I'm having the same problem. Tried all the same solutions. Even spent 2 hours with online help. Still getting 'connected' and 'job complete' but nothing comes out of printer. V annoying. Anyone got other suggestions?

Having the exact same issue. Brand new MacBook air. Sees printer and ink levels. Says it's connected, says it's printing, says job is complete, nothing comes out of the printer. Have tried with airprint but also with the official drivers from HP site.

When I try to print the configuration page it says it is printing, does not print. Please asist, thanks.

Hello everyone!

I was searching through this forum and noticed you all might need some assistance with printing.  What caught my attention was when you said you tried to print the configuration page and that did not print.  Are you referring to the Network Configuration Page?  Did you start the command from within the printer's menu or from the computer?  I want to make sure the printer is able to print at all before troubleshooting the computer.

I will be more than happy to help if I can.  I think what one user referred to when changing his router is that you will need to have a router that has Bonjour enabled.

If you would like any assistance, please reply with the answers to the following questions:

1.  Are you referring to the Officejet 8600 Plus as well?

2.  What is the printer's IP address?

3.  Can you access the printer's embedded web server (EWS) by typing in the printer's IP address into a web-browser?

4.  What is the name of your router (so I can look it up and make sure it has Bonjour)?

5.  What version of OS are you using?

Answer those questions please and also see the following document for the basic troubleshooting steps:

--Can't Print?--

Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

When a solution is found please mark the post that solves your issue.

I have a similar issue with my Officejet Pro 8600.  According to the touchscreen on the printer it is connected to my wireless network (PC based).

However, it will not print documents that I send to it.  It will print if I connect to it with a USB cable.  It has functioned wirelessly for nearly a year and all of a sudden just stopped printing.

I tried to connect to the printers EWS through a browser and it will not connect.

When I try to connect to the hp website through the tools option on the touchscreen it also fails to connect.  I even reset the wireless config today with no luck.

I spent most of the day trying to work through this issue to no avail.  I even spent over an hour chatting with Router support persons with no luck.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
